Job Search assistance is available free of charge to all customers visiting the Workforce Centers. All job seekers are encouraged to go through the Workforce Solutions3 Model in which individualized services are provided. Because individualized and customized services might take longer than normal, the average wait time at any of our Workforce Centers varies depending on the day of the week and the time of day. Mondays and Tuesdays are the busiest days of the week. If you do not have at least two hours to spare, we encourage you to call the Workforce Centers at 1-877-687-1121 to find out the wait time or schedule an appointment.
Job Seekers will be provided a Prove It! assessment to identify your skill levels in reading, match, spelling and safety, which are all skills identified by employers as needed in their jobs. The Prove It! assessment takes about 20 minutes, is computer-based, and is available in English and Spanish. If you have completed a Prove It! assessment in the past six months, you will not have to complete it again.
If you have not completed the WorkInTexas.com (WIT) application, you will complete one while at the center. If you have access to a computer, you might consider starting the WIT application before you come to a center. A Workforce Solutions professional can then review it with you at the center and enhance it as needed to ensure multiple matches to jobs in the system. A thorough review of the WIT application with a Workforce Solutions professional can take up to one hour.
Career counseling is also available free of charge. If you match to multiple jobs but are not sure what you want to do, the Workforce Solutions professional can talk with you about opportunities for jobs and/or training. You may also be referred and scheduled for an interview at that time.
