How We Do It
We train.
To stay competitive, employers need access to talent. We offer skills training to potential employees at our Workforce Centers located throughout our network. Training may also be offered on-site at the place of business or with the designated employer selected training provider.
Our training includes:
- Extensive basic skills classes including Words for Work, Skills Brush-up and GED
- Facilitated workshops in customer service skills and job readiness including assistance with resume writing and interview tips
- Occupation specific training, through referral to an approved training program, on-the-job training (OJT), and customized training for those who qualify*
* The OJT and customized training programs require a 50% employer investment and participants may need to meet minimal eligibility criteria.
We listen.
Regardless of what your job function is these days, one thing is certain: working successfully in your business environment requires a broader and more sophisticated set of skills. We have a team of professionals trained to work in partnership with your business to produce excellent results. We call it “The Consultative Approach.” This strategy places more emphasis on adding value, building loyal relationships, and increasing your productivity by understanding the complete needs of your business.
We prescreen.
OBP has developed the Talent Identification Process (TIP®)*, a customized, multi-leveled screening protocol that matches employers to qualified job candidates.
We use the following tools* to find you the right employee:
- Advertising and recruiting
- Hiring events
- Pre-employment screening (applications, employment/education verification, reference checking)
- Behavioral-based interview
- Skills assessment
- Drug testing
- Criminal background checks
- Coordination of employer interviews
* These services may require a fee for use. Contact the OBP for details.
We target industries.
We identify key industries and concentrate our investment on those with the greatest potential for growth, including manufacturing, healthcare, construction, hospitality, retail, homeland security, law enforcement and business services. OBP facilitates Industry Task Forces with representatives from each of these key industries to continuously secure feedback on your business needs.
